Work Trauma: How Corporations Really Work by Michael Denisoff
We All Suffer from Some Kind of Work Trauma
Most corporations (not all or to varying degrees) are run so poorly that it is painful to their employees and ultimately to financial success. As I consulted to hundreds of businesses, I have observed and heard things to make me conclude that most companies: run on 2-3 cylinders when they have eight, have been described too many times as being like high-school and are degrading to employees due to a large amount of atrocious behavior that we kind of know about but for some reason are willing to accept. One only has only to look at the current anti-work trends and social movements upon us to understand that people want no more of this bad behavior. Although there are many reasons for this current anti-work movement, at its core is the fact that most large corporations are toxic, unhealthy and incredibly ineffective places to work.
What is the Podcast About: The Work Trauma Podcast provides an accurate and unfiltered view into how corporations truly work. We think we know how corporations work but do we really know? We are told how they work through carefully crafted narratives, corporate videos and promotional campaigns. However, the truth how companies work is a very different story. (Please note these observations mainly apply to large corporations.)
Why is this Podcast Needed: The Work Trauma Podcast pulls away the curtain so you can see how corporations really work so 1- we can start to build better companies 2- you can better navigate the realities of your organization and manage your career and life.
Who should listen to this Podcast: Anyone who works at a large corporation and wants to make a difference in their career/life choices and improve the organizations where they work. CEOs who truly want to do it right. Consultants, Organizational Development Leaders and the like who strive to create a better work environment. Anyone who wants to laugh instead of cry regarding the state of how companies are run.
Format: The tone of Exposed in honest, provocative, poignant and slightly irrelevant. It simply is Michael’s unrestricted experience and views of large organization over his 25 year career as a consultant and business executive. It is so honest it hurts once the listener realizes they have put up with this nonsense for so long. Michael will first will discuss the subject in great detail, share real stores and offer the anecdote. In short to:
- Call out and name the bad habit, the illness, the undesired behavior of corporations in vivid detail
- Remove the same
- Offer possible replacements/solutions of something much better
The Role of Your Host: A part of my purpose in life now is to clearly “name” or call out the challenges and negative aspects in business in vivid detail beacuse- when you can clearly name something it takes away much of its power. Accurately framing the multi-dimensional problems of what is really going on in organizations now allows us to honestly deal with the real issues and talk about potential solutions.
